Songs written with poets in more than twenty countries. Made in Hawaiʻi, given to the world.
I am a singer and musician who has given his work to the cause of peace through music. Music can turn conflict into something else. It can grow nonviolence, awaken creativity, and open the way to empathy.
No wall stands against music. It reaches past every barrier we build, and it remains one of the finest ways we have to give voice to that fierce and living love for existence that each of us carries inside.
Where the music has travelled
United Nations
“Plant More Trees” was made for UNEP’s Billion Tree Campaign, and carried to a 4,000-tree planting with French schoolchildren on the first day of spring, 2008.
United Kingdom
“Peace from East” scored Making the Difference, an anti-bullying film for the Department for Education and Skills, still used in British schools.
United States
Original music for Little Boy: The Peace Play, marking sixty years since Hiroshima and Nagasaki, staged in Ohio with the Dayton International Peace Museum.
India
Circle of Peace and “Peace from East” were both recognized at the World Peace Film and Music Festival in Lucknow, before delegates from sixty countries.
Romania
“May Peace Prevail on Earth” began as a poem posted from Sighetu Marmației and has played on Radio Transilvania since May 2008.
Forty-four countries
World Prayer for Peace gathered 250 artists in a single recording, assembled entirely by email.
